Almost 600 years before the birth of Jesus, many of the people of Israel were removed from their Promised Land by the invading nation of Babylon. After 70 years in captivity, the Jews were allowed to go home. God allowed the defeat of Israel and the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem to punish the Jews for their many sins. But what happened when the Jews returned to Jerusalem and Judea? How does the story of the Old Testament end, and how did God prepare the way for Jesus to come?
