How To Study Like A Berean| Hanna Eisenmenger|
When Paul had ministered to the Bereans, they didn't accept his teachings at face-value, but rather took it upon themselves to search out the scriptures and study them intently. After many had done so, they believed in Jesus.
God does not want us to believe any doctrines without first seeking the truth out in His Word. It is of critical importance that we, too, study the Word as the Bereans did. We are commanded as Christians to "test every spirit, to see whether they come from God".
2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Acts 17:10-15 "Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went to the synagogue of the Jews. These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men. But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came there also and stirred up the crowds. Then immediately the brethren sent Paul away, to go to the sea; but both Silas and Timothy remained there. So those who conducted Paul brought him to Athens; and receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him with all speed, they departed."
This is my challenge to you, today and each day--study the scriptures like a Berean! Take your spiritual magnifying glass to the pages of the Bible and make it the focal point of which you view all things spiritual and all things in the world. May God grant you peace, wisdom, and understanding as you study like a Berean.
